New York Honesty is the best policy, except apparently on rainy days at a ski resort. Even though skiing in the rain isn’t actually too bad of an experience(wearing Gore-Tex or a poncho helps), what typically follows is a turn-off for skiers and riders. For a hint, it’s the type of thing that a very white ’90s rapper is fond of. So how do snow reporters try to make things positive?

In a reel shared by Whiteface Mountain, members of their marketing team shared a rosy outlook on conditions despite them being drenched by rain. After their totally honest statement, a member of mountain operations follows up with the reality. Glad to see The Slides are still in play!

Conditions improved over the weekend thanks to the grooming team’s efforts. On Sunday, Whiteface opened up the new Little Whiteface lift for the first time. The opening was initially delayed due to some wind, but they got it operating yesterday afternoon. This new fixed-grip double chairlift replaced both the old Little Whiteface and Mountain Run chairlifts, providing access to advanced terrain.

Currently, Whiteface has 50 trails open, which demonstrates how solid the ski season has been so far.

An old trail map that shows the old lift setup. A new trail map hasn’t been released yet.
