Giant wheel of cheese disrupts ski race in France.

High winds caused a few disruptions at Sunday’s FIS World Cup Super G ski race in Val d’Isère, France, making the race more difficult for several skiers and causing a full blown race interruption after a giant inflatable wheel of cheese broke loose alongside the track.

Despite the wind and disruptions, Italian Sofia Goggia took first place with a time of 1.20:24. New Zealand skier Alice Robinson finished 0.15 seconds behind Sofia to land in 2nd, and American ski legend Lindsey Vonn took 3rd, pulling in 0.36 seconds behind the leader.

This race marked 41-year-old Lindsey Vonn’s second podium finish of the weekend after she took 3rd place on Saturday at the Val d’Isère downhill. We’re glad to see that even a wheel of parmesan cheese can’t throw Vonn off her game.
