Every state has its geography stereotype. Colorado is mountainous, Kansas is flat, Massachusetts is coastal, etc. But the states are pretty massive, with only 10 being less than 10,000 square miles. As such, nearly every state has a pretty unique region, whether it’s in geography or in culture. That Is Interesting is exploring most unusual and unique region in every U.S. state.

Unfortunately this is just part 1 and part 2 isn’t out quite yet, but there’s still some pretty fascinating locations packed into the first half of the United States. Swamps in California, the vast sand dunes of Alaska, and Craters of the Moon in Idaho are all truly incredible. The enormous open pit mines of Minnesota might be the most interesting, though.
