“Night skiing but I upgraded it. Because cross country skiing at night does need a little glow up. Especially a these times where the sport never has been more conservative.”

After an Instagram video of an eye catching design for cross country skis went viral, Thomas from Become Norwegian wanted to share how he took simple LED light strips, clear Gorilla Tape and some bits and bobs to make Disco Skis!

“No gatekeeping. No secrets. This isn’t about gear flexing or skiing faster. It’s about making winter skiing feel lighter, brighter, and a bit more fun — especially when it’s dark outside.”

While Thomas tape the RGB light strips to his cross-country skis, he advices they can be used for any type of skiing:

“Cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, night skiing, resort laps, touring, forest trails — whatever gets you out there. Same snow. Same cold air. Just more glow.”

Totally ridiculous, totally fun. If you take night skiing super serious this DIY project is not for you but if you dig spreading cheer and keeping skiing playful, you might want to get the components and rig up your own set of Disco Skis:

“If adding lights to your skis makes you want to go out for one more lap, bring a friend, or smile a bit more while skiing — then it’s doing exactly what Disco Skis are meant to do.”
