Wenatchee, Washington — The Washington ski industry is currently in rough shape. An atmospheric river drenched ski resorts across the state, leading to flooding and significant damage. Then there was the wind. Mission Ridge showed what a nasty 1-2 punch the wind and rain can be.

Originally planning to reopen its slopes last weekend, Mission Ridge remained closed due to needed cleanup. It turned out to be a just a flesh wound. In a video message shared yesterday, the Washington ski resort shared the damage from the Pineapple Express (the storm, not the movie I’ve seen one too many times).

There were reportedly over 200 downed trees across the ski resort. Workers have reportedly removed around 100 trees from groomed runs. So if you’re looking for some firewood or a way-too-large Christmas tree, you know who to reach out to.

Regarding the infrastructure, some windows to the lodges were reportedly shattered, and there was some roof damage as well.

The good news for Mission Ridge is that cold and snowy weather is back in the forecast over the next few days. Mission Ridge’s reopening date is yet to be determined, but they could reopen on Saturday, depending on how this storm pans out.

Meanwhile, other ski resorts may not have access to get to the ski resort.
