Chamonix, France โ What if Glen Plake had never been in the Blizzard of Aahhh’s? It’s what some are wondering following an interesting story from the director.
Recently, Greg Stump has been sharing stories of the production of the Blizzard of Aahs. One such story is how Plake got into the film. Originally, the plan was to feature Lynne Weiland in the Chamonix section rather than Plake. Weilland was an acclaimed skier herself, as she was a stunt double in Hot Dog… The Movie. However, she suffered a major injury on the first day of filming Blizzard. Doctor Plake came in to fill her role, and the rest is history.

If he didn’t make it in the movie, you’d have to imagine Plake would’ve made his way into the skiing mainstream eventually. It’s easy to stand out with that eccentric personality and orderly hair.
What resulted was a ski film that inspired many and propelled Plake into skiing stardom. Ultimately, the situation is one of skiing’s great what-ifs. Some others I can think of: What if Disney actually built a ski resort? What if POWDR hadn’t fumbled the lease to Park City Mountain Resort?
