If you’re looking for where all of the snow is, it looks like British Columbia’s Fernie Alpine Resort managed to take most of it. Just overnight, the Canadian resort recorded 37cm, or around 14.5 inches, of new snowfall. That might not be the biggest snowfall you’ve ever seen, but it’s one of the best so far this season.
With that new snow, Fernie has officially seen just over 20 inches of new snow in the past 7 days, bringing their season total up to over 326 inches. Their base depth currently sits around 48.5 inches.
Despite the recent storm, it’s pretty easy to see that most of the snow has stuck to the upper portions of the mountain with a quick glance at Fernie’s live cameras. That said, the resort’s base sits at just 3,450 feet, while the summit reaches up to 7,000 feet.
Given the recent snowfall, just 1 chairlift is open to start the day, but more lifts are likely to start spinning as extensive avalanche work is completed.
