Interview with Lindsey Vonn and new coach Aksel Lund Svindal.

One of the greatest downhill ski racers of all time, Lindsey Vonn, took her first World Cup victory since 2018 on the Corviglia Mountain in St. Moritz on Friday, December 12th. At 41, she is now the oldest World Cup race winner in history (seriously impressive!).

Friday’s victory was pretty significant in another way, too. It was her first World Cup race with new coach (and former ski racing World Champion) Aksel Lund Svindal by her side, and based on the interview below they’ve got quite a great relationship going.

The duo managed to run through much of their interview without the interviewer asking any questions, just riffing off each other. But it’s great to hear Svindal’s perspective on the entire race.

Vonn beat Austrian skier Magdalena Egger, the second place finisher, by 0.98 seconds, a fairly wide margin for a World Cup ski race. Huge congrats to Vonn on the win. We can’t wait to see how the rest of the season, and the Olympics, go for the American legend.
