Vermont — Looking for a great skiing experience right now? At the moment, there are two spots in North America to head to for that: Alberta or the Northeast. In Vermont, it’s been snowing a reasonable amount, and cold temperatures mean that snowmaking efforts are well underway. With new snow over the past 24 hours, and more snow on the way, these four ski resorts already have more than sixty trails open.

Important Note: These totals are as of Thursday, December 11, at 11 a.m. The number of open trails and lifts could fluctuate depending on thin cover, new snow, potential lift wind holds, and other factors.

Jay Peak

It’s no surprise that Jay Peak is a snowy place so far this winter, but it may come as a shock that they’ve received the most snow so far out of any ski resort in North America. Jay Peak has 66 of its 82 trails open, and 7 of its 9 lifts are operating. They received 7-9″ overnight, and more snow is currently falling. As of Thursday morning, their season snowfall total sits at 157″.

Killington

The Beast of the East began its season on November 12th with its most open terrain in recent memory. That growth has continued, with skiing now available from the K-1, Superstar, Snowdon, and Snowshed. Killington currently has 63 trails open and 6 lifts operating.

Snowfall has certainly helped grow their trail count, with 8″ over the past 48 hours. Snowmaking efforts are now focused on the Bear Mountain base area, which means more terrain openings are imminent.

Stowe

Mt. Mansfield has been an excellent place to ski over the past month, with its snowstake being well above average for this time of year. At Stowe, they started their season with over 50 trails open. Their trail count is now at 76, with the goal of expanding open terrain across all three peaks soon.

Sugarbush

Sugarbush was in rough shape at the start of the 2024-25 season due to a lack of snowmaking pond water. This go around? Things are going pretty well, as they opened on time and now have lots of terrain open. Conditions have been made even better thanks to 5″ in the past 24 hours. Currently, the Bush has 64 trails and 4 lifts open. They even got Castlerock open for hikers.

Now at 57″
