Just unearthed this vintage concert footage of indie rock darlings Wilco jamming out slopeside at Marble Mountain Ski Resort in Newfoundland back in March 1997. The Chicago based rockers hadn’t really reached mainstream acclaim at the time and put on a hell of a show for the patchy après crowd who likely hadn’t heard their tunes but were more than happy to jump around in their snow suits and slam beers for 25 minutes.
Wilco eventually went on to drop Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born and quickly became a household name, headlining festivals and filling up major venues but there are more than few local skiers and snowboarders that will remember when a fresh faced ski goggle clad Jeff Tweedy and company came to their hole in the wall ski resort and played their hearts out.
