Pagosa Springs, Colorado — Compared to other years, it’s a later-than-usual start to the season at Wolf Creek Ski Area. During some winters, it’s the first ski area to open in Colorado. This wasn’t the case this time around, due to La Niña conditions creating a dry early season in Southwestern Colorado. However, snow finally arrived at Wolf Creek last week.

On Saturday, November 22nd, Wolf Creek kicked off its 2025-26 season. This was thanks to 20 inches of recent powder along with steadfast snowmaking efforts. The ski area started with the Treasure Stoke, Bonanza, Nova, Tumbler, and Lynx lifts, providing access to about 20% of the mountain. Magic Carpet is also open for lessons. Early-season lift tickets are affordable, costing $70 for adults, $51 for seniors, and $35 for children.

Wolf Creek has since seen more snowfall, with 9″ in the past 72 hours. The ski area’s season snowfall total is now at 33″.

About Wolf Creek Ski Area

Situated in Pagosa Springs, Wolf Creek Ski Area stakes the claim of having “the most snow in Colorado,” with an average of 430 inches of snow each winter. The ski area features 133 named trails, 11 lifts, 1,600 skiable acres, and a vertical drop of 1,604 vertical feet.

The major addition for the 2025-26 season is a new rental shop. The Board Room has been replaced by Stoken Rentals, a new snowboard rental shop. Construction continues on that project, with the aim of opening it this winter.
