After a multi-hour late-night bargaining session on Thursday, November 13th, Vail Resorts and the Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union have reached an agreement ending a potential picket scheduled for this Sunday, November 16th.
Summit Daily reports that Union president Ryan Dineen notified the Breckenridge Town Council of their intention to picket this upcoming weekend at a meeting on Tuesday, November 11th. During the meeting he clarified that the Ski Patrol Union was in negotiations with Vail Resorts to lock down a labor contract meant to replace the one set to expire on Saturday, November 15th.
“Breckenridge Ski Resort and the Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union are pleased to announce that we have reached a new tentative agreement through November 15, 2028. The Union’s bargaining committee is unanimously recommending ratification by its members. Until contract ratification, neither party will be accepting media requests.” – Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union & Vail Resorts joint statement.
With the successful agreement, the Union will no longer picket at the bottom of the BreckConnect Gondola on Sunday. While details on the contract are yet to be released, the union was apparently seeking a new contract that maintained and improved upon wages, benefits, and more.
According to Ryan Dineen, the two parties had been in negotiations on the new contract since April.
