The Amtrak Winter Park Express, a ski train that runs from Denver to Winter Park Resort and neighboring Fraser, will kick off its 2025/2026 season with holiday runs starting on December 19th, 2025. After the new year, the seasonal service will run four days weekly with 57 total roundtrips scheduled for the winter ahead.

The last two weekends of the year, December 19th-21st and December 26th-28th, 2025, will be the first for the Winter Park Express, plus round trips on January 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Starting on January 9th, the train will run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through March 29th.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) began a partnership with the Winter Park Express to lower ticket prices and expand service last year during the 2024-2025 winter season. Ridership saw a 150% increase through the partnership, demonstrating the increasing demand for travel options beyond cars and trucks. CDOT is partnering with Winter Park once again to continue building on that success.

Skis and snowboards can be brought on the train as a carry-on for no additional charge, and riders can enjoy a trip in Coach class with wide, reclining seats, and big picture window, ample legroom, and no middle seat. There’s also a bi-level Sightseer Lounge with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains and a café service with snacks and drinks.

Tickets for the season can be booked at Amtrak.com/WinterParkExpress and the Amtrak app. Tickets are available for as low as $9 and are available for purchase now. The train leaves Denver at 7am and arrives at the resort at 9:11am in the morning. In the evening, it departs Winter Park Resort at 4:35pm and arrives in Denver at 7:05pm.
