Telluride, Colorado — Work has begun on Telluride’s newest luxury hotel in at least 15 years.
Earlier this month, a groundbreaking was held for the new Four Seasons Resort and Residences Telluride. Last week, it was announced that The Weitz Company will serve as the general contractor for the project. They have experience from working on various mountain developments over the years. The hotel and residences are being designed by Olson Kundig and Clements Design.
“This project represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a world-class destination in one of the most iconic ski towns in the country,” said Kevin McClain, CEO & President at The Weitz Company. “We are honored to partner with developers Fort Partners and Merrimac Ventures to bring their vision to life.”
The Four Seasons will feature 26 private residences, 43 hotel residences, and 52 hotel keys (a.k.a. hotel rooms). So far, more than 30% of the residences have been sold or are under contract.
If you’re interested in purchasing a residence, it’s probably out of your price range. Prices for the remaining residences start at around $4 million. The amenities will include a five-star restaurant (hopefully a Chili’s), an indoor pool, an outdoor hot tub, a spa, a fitness center, a residents’ club, and a ski valet. The property will be situated on 4.5 acres in Mountain Village. Located next to the Mountain Village Gondola-Chondola, the property will have ski-in/out access.
While this is clearly a project catering to people who own at least one oversized yacht, it will also result in positive community development.
As part of this project, the Four Seasons will contribute to affordable housing in the area. According to the Telluride Daily Planet, this will be made possible by a $2.5 million donation to the Town of Mountain Village Housing Fund.
