Planning a European ski trip can get pretty difficult, especially if you don’t have an exact location you’re hoping to check out. Europe is full of massive, expansive ski areas, all with their own benefits and downsides. Additionally ski resorts tend to work a bit differently in Europe than they do in North America, offering different types of terrain and an entirely different difficulty rating.
If you’re looking for a high-altitude resort with top-notch views in France, it would be hard to beat Les 2 Alpes. The mountain’s base sits around 4,166 feet, while it’s summit stretches as high as 11,706 feet. That’s not as high as some of the resorts we have in the United States, but it does rank as one of the highest ski resort in France. Plus you get some wicked views of the surrounding mountains.
Les 2 Alpes’ maximum vertical drop is around 7,546 feet. 137 miles of slopes across 64 trails make for stunning runs from the high-altitude glaciers down to the valley below. While there are plenty of trails for all experience levels, Les 2 Alpes is primarily made up of the beginner blue runs (much of Europe runs on a blue=beginner, red=intermediate, black=expert run rating system). About 68 miles of trails are blue, while around 35 are red and 21 are black.
