Skiing in Georgia.
Skiing in Georgia.

Georgia (the country) has started to see a bit of growth in terms of skiers and snowboarders looking for wild mountain adventures. It’s not blown up, at least not yet, but more and more athletes seem to be traveling to its mountains every year. That includes Nikolai Schirmer, Lucas Wachs and Sam Favret, who visited the country at the intersection of Europe and Asia.

The Caucuses Mountains, where the crew is seen skiing throughout the short documentary, sit between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, stretching through Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. The tallest mountain in the chain, Mount Elbrus, reaches 18,510 feet. Georgia’s tallest peak, Mount Shkhara, stretches to 16,627 feet.

Georgia has a handful of ski resorts, but the most famous is Guduari. Their ski season typically runs from December through the end of April. The resort features 4 gondolas and 10 chairlifts with 75km, or around 46.6 miles, of trails.
