The Adirondack Mountain Club is selling its Cascade Welcome Center located between Keene and Lake Placid on Route 73 for $2.85 million. The 198 acre property was listed by Vincent McClelland at LandVest on Thursday, October 9th, 2025 and includes a 12,500 square-foot lodge built in 1979 with retail, restaurant, bar, ski shop, bunkhouse lodging, and two recently remodeled one-bed, one-bath apartments.
Adirondack Explorer reports the property was purchased by The Adirondack Mountain Club from the Jubin family for $2.5 million in early 2022. The Jubins had operated it since 1979. Adirondack Mountain Clubย executive director Cortney Koenig Worrall described the decision to sell as “incredibly difficult” and not financially motivated, rather as a return to the club’s focus on core programs, people, and places. A rare opportunity at the entrance to Olympic Village of Lake Placid, this nearly 200-acre property combines a rich recreational legacy with development potential. Formerly the Cascade Cross-Country Ski Center, the property includes miles of ski/trail running/mountain biking trails, an 12,500+/- SF lodge with retail, restaurant, bar, ski shop, bunkhouse lodging, and two recently remodeled apartments-one a one-bedroom, one-bath; the other a two-bedroom, one-bath-each with spectacular mountain views.

Set within a 200-acre boreal forest of spruce, balsam, and tamarack, the land borders state wilderness and connects directly to the Jackrabbit Trail and the Olympic trail network at Mount Van Hoevenberg.
