Finland — Thanks to snow farming, the 2025-26 ski season is officially underway in Finland.
Levi & Ruka ski resorts cover snow from the prior winter with tarp, and groomers then push out the snow during the weeks leading up to opening day. While a few ski resorts in Europe did open earlier, two in Finland are now open and plan to operate until May. Here’s a rundown on the two ski resorts that opened earlier today for the season.
Levi
Levi opened its lifts today at 9:30 a.m. Levi has started its season with 3 trails open and 4 lifts operating. There’s also terrain that’s open for Nordic skiers.
Known as Finland’s most popular ski resort, Levi has 43 trails, 26 lifts, and a vertical drop of 1,066 feet. The Finnish ski resort hosts the FIS World Cup, which is scheduled for November 15-16. This will be where Mikaela Shiffrin aims to win her 500th reindeer. Ok, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but she’s won a lot of times at Levi.

Ruka
Ruka also began its season by 9:30 a.m. Ruka started its season with 3 trails open and 3 lifts operating.
Ruka features 41 trails, 22 lifts, and a vertical drop of 659 feet.
