Sweden — One of the most fascinating abandoned ski resorts on the planet is situated in the Arctic Circle. In the 2010s, two snowboarding legends attempted to make Pullinki (also known as Svanstein) into one of the best ski resorts in the country. However, their ambitions hit the flats.

Jay Swingler posted a produce a documentary of his trip to an abandoned ski resort in Sweden after getting challenged to ski it, stay overnight at the abandoned hotel overnight in the cold temperatures, and cook a meal there. Swingler was up for the challenge and overcame some obstacles along the way to explore an abandoned Swedish ski resort. Enjoy this interesting look at an abandoned gem.

Why This Ski Resort Became A Ghost Town..

This isn’t the first exploration of this abandoned place, as Joona Päätalo made his own trip there last year.

Information about this place on the internet is pretty minimal, but here’s what I found: In the 2010s, two snowboarding legends, Ingemar Backman and Johan Olofsson, purchased it. However, due to the pandemic, it closed in 2020 and didn’t reopen.

Apparently, a new owner purchased the mountain with the intention of reopening it. Pullinki didn’t operate for the 2023-24 season, but they aimed to reopen for the 2024-25 season. That clearly didn’t happen, and it’s now becoming a popular site for explorers of abandoned places.
