Professional skydiver Katie Hansen and 173 other of the sport’s top athletes took to the skies this summer in an effort to break the world record for the most people in a head-down skydive formation. Using the GoPro MAX2, Hansen captured the incredible moment in the sky.
As easy as they make it look in the video, this was no simple accomplishment. It required serious precision, teamwork, and human flight skills, combined with hundreds of skydivers, organizers, and pilots of 9 total aircraft for over 5 days of attempts.
According to the Guinness World Records, the previous record for the largest head-down vertical formation skydive was set in 2015, when 164 skydivers achieved the feat over the city of Ottawa in Illinois.
