When the final gavel fell at an auction in Los Angeles, a new world record had been set for the most expensive skateboard ever sold! On Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025 Tony Hawk’s skateboard from his landmark 1999 “900” trick set a record for a piece of skateboarding memorabilia when it sold $1.15 million at Julien’s Auctions, more than doubling its pre-sale estimate.
The auction was held the Loews Hollywood Hotel where The Birdman himself was in the audience. The 57-year-old American skateboarder was clearly gobsmacked by the astronomical price as the bids flew past the pre-auction estimate for the board used to land the world’s first 900 spin at the 1999 X Games in San Francisco. Truly a historic day for the sport.
“We are honored to witness him make history once again, and extend our gratitude to Tony Hawk, the Loews Hollywood Hotel, and to every bidder who made this day unforgettable.”
