Mont-Tremblant, Quebec — The World Cup circuit is going to be a little bit different this winter. With the Olympics happening in February, there’s been some stark differences to the schedule. One of the returning hosts in North America is Tremblant, which hopes not to be impacted by the warmer weather that has affected the event beforehand.
Following an unsuccessful attempt to host it last winter, Tremblant is spending money to make sure it happens this time around.
Yesterday, Mont Tremblant announced the details regarding the 2025 PwC Tremblant World Cup. On December 6th and 7th, Tremblant will host two FIS Ski World Cup Giant Slalom races on the Flying Mile course. The expected headliners include hometown hero Valérie Grenier, America’s Mikaela Shiffrin, New Zealand’s Alice Robinson, and Lara Gut-Behrami, who will be in her final season.
Course Improvements
In order to ensure that the races happen, Tremblant has invested in improving the snowmaking coverage on the trail. Four new state-of-the-art snowmaking fan guns are being added. Two of which will be located at the bottom of the Johannsen pitch, and the other two will replace the existing fan guns at the top. Outside of these additions, Tremblant has installed 139 snow guns in recent years to expand its infrastructure.
The slope has also been modified. Backfilling has been added to the lower Johannsen pitch. This means that Tremblant will need less snow to get the course covered and approved.
Watching the event will also be more accessible than ever. A redesigned spectator area and cheaper ticket options will allow more people to watch the events. For spectators, some of the improvements that they’ll see and hear include another big screen, an upgraded sound system, and more food options. Music will also be a part of the experience, with Les Trois Accords headlining, along with other DJs.
No Killington World Cup This Year
Ultimately, the appeal of this event lies in the fact that it will be the only FIS World Cup races in the Northeast this upcoming winter. This is because Killington, which typically hosts a Slalom and GS event in November/December, won’t host this upcoming ski season. This is due to the construction of the Superstar chairlift. However, it appears like they’ll be back on the circuit during the 2026-27 season.
