Colorado fish hatchery.

Colorado keeps its mountain lakes clean and stocked through the state’s many fish hatcheries. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has 19 fish hatcheries across the state, raising 47 different species of fish including 10 endangered and species of concerned.

The organization interviewed CPW Hatchery Technician Graham Bachmann to discuss how his passion for fishing led him into his career in fishery management. They discuss why these hatcheries are so important to conservation, recreational fishing, and the state’s new Quality Waters program.

If this video has peaked your interest, several of the hatcheries across the state offer self-guided and guided tours. If you’re interested in checking one out for yourself, the Fish Hatchery Finder can help you find one that offers your desired tour option near you.
