Wave theft turns into shared moment between two random surfers.
Wave theft turns into shared moment between two random surfers.

If you know anything about surfing, you likely know that it’s pretty much never okay to drop in on someone who’s already on a wave. And yet, whether it be locals dropping in on out-of-towners as a form of territorialism or just clueless surfers not being aware of what’s going on around them, it seems to happen fairly often.

Surfer Jacob Mellish managed to turn what could have been a very negative moment into a positive when he was dropped in on by a random local. Rather than getting upset or attempting to shove the other guy out the way, he reached out his hand, got on the other surfer’s board, and shared an incredible moment with a random person.

We don’t know why the guy dropped in on Jacob, whether he felt entitled to the wave or just wasn’t aware, but huge shoutout to Jacob for keeping his calm and turning a potentially frustrating moment into something so cool.
