The Smith Lake State Wildlife Area in Larimer County, Colorado, is officially closed to public access following a failed negotiation process between Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the land owners.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the property and lake, also called Boxelder Lake Number 3, is owned by the North Poudre Ditch Company. The company leased the land to CPW for public fishing opportunities in 2008 and have been doing so since.
Unfortuantely, after a long negotiation process, the two parties could not reach a new agreement for recreation management. As such, the area was closed off to the public on Friday, September 12th.
Anyone with further questions can either contact Colorado Parks and Wildlife at 970-472-4300 or the North Poudre Ditch Company at 979-568-3612.ย ย
