Gilford, New Hampshire — The marquee ski resort of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region has made some notable improvements for the upcoming winter.

Yesterday, Gunstock Mountain Resort announced what’s new for the 2025-26 season. This offseason was focused on lift refurbishments, which will allow for more reliable operations.

For lifts, the big project is the two-year renovation of the Panorama Express chairlift, which services the summit of Gunstock. Projects on the detachable quad this offseason included new communications lines and a chair spacing system, which caused the ski resort problems last spring. New lift shacks are scheduled as the next significant portion of the project, which will shelter workers and lift compoments.

Other lifts are also seeing some upgrades. Earlier this summer, the haul rope on the Tiger chairlift was replaced. Drive replacements are planned for the Tiger, Pistol, and Ramrod chairlifts before the 2025-26 season starts. The electrical systems at the ski resort have also been inspected and upgraded where needed.

In terms of snowmaking, 24 new energy-efficient HKD Impulse tower guns, along with Klik hydrants, are being added, which will produce snow more efficiently.

Two new groomers have also been added to Gunstock’s fleet. One of them is a winch cat, which will help the New Hampshire ski resort groom its steep terrain.

Over the next couple of years, more than $3 million is earmarked for lifts, $2.5 million is allocated for snowmaking and grooming equipment, and over $4 million is planned for general infrastructure improvements that include upgrading electrical systems.

Other recent improvements include the redesign of the Upper Ramrod trail, a renovation of the Stockade Lodge, the expansion of the Panorama Pub, the paving of the main parking lot, the construction of a new rental building/tuning shop, and more.
