Intense moment caught on video off the shores of southeast Greenland where a collapsing iceberg sent a group of tour boats throttling for safety.
The following footage was captured by a guest on the expedition cruise ship Ocean Albatros who had hopped on one of their fleet of 18 Zodiac boats (rigid inflatable vessel) to get a closer look at the 1000 foot long, 65 foot tall iceberg. He was rolling with his camera when the collapse happened, generating a large wave that sent the 8 other fully loaded Zodiacs speeding in the opposite direction for safety.
Thankfully the iceberg was surrounded by brash ice which dampened the momentum of the wave and all the boats went unharmed.

All guests receive a mandatory instruction of the safety guidelines. Life jackets are mandatory to wear.
Please note, we highly recommend the use of waterproof bags in order to protect your personal camera or binoculars, as both hands must be free of everything during boarding. Participation is fairly easy and comfortable for able-bodied guests but can be more challenging for those with physical handicaps.
