Skier and BASE jump athlete Clark Robinson is constantly pushing the boundaries of both snow and air. He recently shared a clip for 2024 that he’d forgotten to post of him skiing off a massive cliff on Cody Peak in Wyoming before throwing his parachute and flying to the ground. Some random backcountry skiers just managed to grab the moment on camera. They met Clark at the bottom of the run and shared the video with him, and now Clark has chosen to share the clip with the world. Seriously impressive stuff.
Cody Peak
Cody Peak is an iconic mountain in the Jackson area, located southwest of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Accessing Cody Peak and Cody Bowl is done through the gate on the resort’s Rendezvous Bowl. It is completely in the backcountry, so don’t expect the avalanche mitigation or rescue capabilities that you’d find on resort. As you can see by the lines behind Clark as he flies down, there’s plenty of routes to take that keep your skis on the snow the entire time. The route Clark picked definitely requires a parachute.
Ski BASE Jumping
BASE jumping stands for Buildings, Antennae, Span (like bridges and dams), and Earth. Those are the four primary jumping points used by athletes. The concept of skiing into a jump has been around for quite a while, but it was the legendary Shane McConkey who really managed to popularize it alongside JT Holmes. While BASE jumping typically involves just jumping off one of the aforementioned locations, ski base combines both skiing and BASE jumping to create its own level of extreme.
Clark Robinson
Clark Robinson is quite the athlete on his own. He pushes his limits with remarkable wingsuit flights, incredible speed flying, and more. Make sure you check out his channel for more incredible clips and videos.
