Wilmington, New York โ It may not be for everyone, but the Mountain Collective has found a specific niche of skiers and riders. Offering two days at a variety of popular ski resorts worldwide, it provides skiers who prefer short vacations with the opportunity to explore different destinations. While Ikon and Epic are the heavyweights in the multi-mountain pass stratosphere, the Mountain Collective has still found an audience who are looking to take shorter vacations to big destinations.
One gripe of the pass is that they’re aren’t enough Northeastern destinations. Those gripes may be alleviated after the newest addition the Mountain Collective.
Yesterday, the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), which operates three ski resorts in New York, announced that Whiteface will be joining its roster for the 2025-26 season. This means that Mountain Collective passholders will get two free days at Whiteface, plus 50% off any future ski days at the New York ski resort.
Whiteface is probably the best ski resort in New York State. It has the biggest vertical drop in the Northeast (3430 feet). Whiteface features 94 trails, 12 lifts, 334 skiable acres, and 99% snowmaking coverage. For a mountain of this magnitude, it’s surprising how long they’ve stayed out of the multi-mountain pass wars. Although it was part of the original Ikon Pass (MAX Pass), it has remained excluded from multi-mountain passes since the introduction of Ikon.
With this addition, it’s fair to wonder whether it could join the Ikon Pass down the road, as other ski resorts on the Mountain Collective are partners with them.
