Tragic news out of Utah were a hiker is dead after falling in a rockslide in Bell’s Canyon Saturday morning. The Gephardt Daily reports Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue received an emergency call at 8:45am.

“Upon arrival, rescue personnel located an unresponsive 49-year-old male. A doctor who happened to be hiking in the area was the first to arrive and render aid. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.” -Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office

The victim fell from the area of the Pfiefferhorn summit.

“He rolled down the mountain, about 700 feet, with the rock slide.” –Detective Bennett, Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office

The body has been recovered and the area has been reopened. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
