Madison Ostergren summer skiing.

In response to a certain request to “stop trying to make skiing happen all year”, professional skiers Madison Ostergren, Jim Ryan, and others took to the backcountry near Grand Teton National Park to grab some summer turns.

Their crew went up Buck Mountain, the he highest peak in the Tetons south of the Garnet Canyon. The climb to the top looked to include some serious scrambling with high exposure, but they still made it happen because skiing should happen all year.

If you’re seeking a way to get on snow this summer, there’s a few ways to do so in the United States. One ski area, Timberline Lodge, is actually still open with a spinning lift. Copper Mountain in Colorado has a hike-only park. But if you’re willing to work, there are plenty of areas in the Rocky Mountains with some hidden snow.
