Brian Head, Utah โ€” Brian Head Resort is set to be one of the fastest-growing ski resorts in the years ahead, thanks to the Aspen Meadows real estate development. However, it could grow even further if they can get a boundary expansion approved by the US Forest Service.

Starting today, the US Forest Service is accepting public comments for a proposed series of terrain expansions from Brian Head Resort. The ski resort is proposing the addition of 1651 acres of Dixie National Forest to its existing 887-acre special use permit. This will include the development of 382 acres of new skiable terrain, the addition of 14 new lifts, the construction of four on-mountain restaurants, the installation of 19 miles of new snowmaking infrastructure, the assembly of eight new spaces for ski patrollers, and more.

Public comments will go from today (July 15th) until August 29, 2025. A couple years of environmental analysis are expected to follow. The US Forest Service aims to complete its analysis by June 2028. For more information, you can check out the Story Map here or the various documents here. You can submit comments here.

This is not to be confused with the Aspen Meadows plan, which will add another 850 skiable acres of terrain and seven lifts to the ski resort. These plans were already approved, and construction is underway. However, some of the lifts that connect to this terrain pod will need to be approved as part of this proposal, as it involves crossing through national forest land.

Note how some of the expansion is listed as private land.

Brian Head’s improvements for the 2025-26 season are a bit more modest. The Utah ski resort’s plans include new glades and snowmaking upgrades. Although not officially confirmed by the ski resort yet, it appears that the first lift-serviced portion of the Aspen Meadows development could open during the 2026-27 season.
