Maine Ski Resort Prepares To Celebrate 75th Anniversary
Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine is preparing to celebrate the 75th anniversary this winter, inviting Sugarloaf lovers to submit their story.

Sugarloaf Mountain began its journey to becoming one of the top ski resorts in New England in 1950 when the Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Club secured land on the northern face of the mountain. The first rope tow was installed in 1954, and the mountain’s gondola was installed in the 1960s.
In the 75 years since the mountain’s first trail was cut, Sugarloaf has expanded to include bountiful runs across the main mountain and onto West Mountain, into Bracket Basin, and onto the neighboring Burnt Mountain. This year’s celebration of 75 years will kick off at Homecoming Weekend this fall.
Leading up to the Homecoming Weekend, Sugarloaf is asking those who’ve called Sugarloaf their home mountain, or anyone who’s had an unforgettable trip at the Maine resort, to submit their Sugarloaf Story to their website here.
“Sugarloaf Mountain, one of New England’s premier ski resorts, began its journey in 1950 when the Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Club secured land on the mountain’s northern face. From its first rope tow in 1953 to the installation of a groundbreaking gondola in the 1960s, Sugarloaf steadily evolved into an international destination. Over the years, expansions like the West Mountain area, state-of-the-art snowmaking, and investments under Boyne Resorts have cemented its status as a top-tier resort.” – Sugarloaf
