Snowboard hard boots are already a pretty wild product, but this company is looking to take them to the next level.
Not very much is known about these SUN Snowboard Hard Boots. It’s not even very clear how they interact with snowboard bindings, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t fascinating. They don’t feature buckles, relying on a fast spinning cable system to lock a rider’s foot into the boot.
When opened, the inner liner can be removed and walked up like a regular boot, with a snow-focused tread on the bottom. Taking the liner out of and returning it to the shell is done with ease, and the cable system creates a wrapped fit around the whole foot.
Again it’s interesting, but it’s not entirely clear how it fits into the hard boot world. They don’t seem like they’d interact with any sort of existing hard boot binding very well, so maybe they’re just meant to be strapped into regular snowboard bindings. But in that case what’s the point of using the hard boot? The most interesting part seems to be the dial system. Maybe that could come into use in other products?
At this point no price seems to be available on these boots and they don’t seem to be available for sale anywhere, though the company claims to be open for dealers and distributors.
