The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado is requesting assistance from the public in located a missing 55-year-old man who had traveled to Colorado Springs from New Hampshire to hike Pikes Peak.

Russel Hardy was last seen in the Colorado Springs area wearing blue jeans, a black T-shirt, and an L.L. Bean backpack. He’s white, approximately 5’11”, and weighs around 230 pounds. He traveled to Colorado Springs on June 10, renting a gray 2025 Toyota RAV4 with a Colorado license plate of DXDT30.

Family members reported the man missing on June 13 after he failed to return when scheduled on June 12. A photograph shared on social media suggests that his last known location was in the vicinity of Crystal Creek Reservoir or the Crags Trailhead area. The RAV4 was located at the Crags Trailhead.

El Paso County and Teller County Search and Rescue teams are actively searching for Hardy in the surrounding area. Anyone with information relating to the man’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at (719) 390-5555.
