Ski season isn’t over yet. Yes, it’s the middle of June, the days have turned quite warm and sunny, most ski areas are closed, and there’s very little snow left on the ground or in the mountains, but ski season isn’t over yet. Four ski areas are still open heading into this weekend and three of them close after Sunday, so the next few days could mark your last to ride on snow.

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado – Closing date June 15th.

We’re officially in closing weekend for Colorado’s ski season, with Arapahoe Basin reopening today, June 13, for their final three days. The party will go strong all weekend with pond skimming across Lake Reveal and the Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Express lifts spinning from 8:30am to 2:00pm through the weekend. There is no beginner terrain on the mountain at this point in the season.

Beartooth Basin, Wyoming – Closing date June 15th.

The hope was that Wyoming’s summer ski area would be able to stay open into July, but that’s seeming like it won’t be possible. Beartooth Basin, located along the Beartooth Highway, is set to close after this weekend. Tickets are heavily limited, but they cost just $50 per day. Two surface lifts supply access to 600 acres of skiing and snowboarding across this mountain.

Mammoth Mountain, California – Closing date June 15th.

California’s last open ski resort is heading into its final weekend, with warm weather and sunny days ahead. Broadway Express (1), Face Lift Express (3), and Chair 23 are all spinning and the Panorama Gondola will spin on June 14 and 15 for closing weekend laps. Mountain biking and golf are currently open as well, so give the Mammoth Trifecta a try while you’re there.

Timberline Lodge, Oregon – Open into the summer.

Thanks to the Palmer Snowfield, Timberline Lodge has no closing date in sight. Skiing and snowboarding will continue deep into the summer off the Palmer Express with both private and public lanes available to keep your ski and snowboard skills fresh all summer long. It’s entirely possible that this ski area will stay open through August and potentially into September.
