North Carolina’s Hatley Pointe Mountain Resortย (formally known as Wolf Ridge Ski Resort) has their sights set on becoming a four season destination and have taken a major step towards that goal with the announcement they are bringing a world-class bike park to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Hatley Pointe teamed up withย Elevated Trail Designย to bring the new lift service mountain bike park to life and the workers are already “moving and grooving” as work gets underway.
“Phase 1 of our bike park is well underway, and we couldnโt be more excited. Weโre working withย Elevated Trail Designย to offer the best mix of difficulty levels, flow, tech, and dynamic features. We canโt wait to see you all on the trails in spring 2026!” -Hatley Pointe
The new bike park feature terrain to accommodate riders of all levels including experts who can look forward to road gaps and rock spines:
“The first phase will includeย nine trails, anchored by three primary lines: A beginner-friendlyย green, an intermediateย blue, and aย challenging black. Riders will be able to link trails together on the way down, creating a “choose your own adventure” feel with flow and technical options woven throughout.”
Here at Hatley Pointe we are no stranger to transformation. After reimagining the former Wolf Ridge Ski Resort into a four-season boutique mountain destination, we are continuing our mission to bring year-round adventure to the region. Our next major step? A lift-access mountain bike park unlike anything else in Western NorthCarolina.
“From the moment we purchased the resort, we knew this place had the potential to be more than just a winter destination. Thereโs something special about this mountain, and we want people to experience it in every season.”ย –Deb Hatley, Owner and CEO of Hatley Pointe
More Than a Ski Hill
Hatley Pointe sits just 35 minutes from Asheville and is the closest ski resort to East Tennessee. That accessibility is part of what makes us so unique. While we remain deeply committed to providing a quality ski experience in winter, weโve set our sights on becoming a 4-season destination that provides adventure, hospitality and one-of-a-kind experiences you canโt get anywhere else.
The idea for a bike park came early. With steep terrain, natural flow, and an impressiveย 700-foot elevation drop, it didnโt take long to realize the mountain was just as suited for summer thrills as it is for snowy descents. We partnered with Peter Mills and his company,ย Elevated Trail Design, to bring the vision to life.ย
“Peter reached out not long after we announced the purchase. Heโs from the area and knows this terrain better than anyone. His team is incredibly skilled, and they share our values of honoring the land and building something sustainable.”ย
Choose Your Own Adventure
The trail system, now under construction, is designed to offer something for everyone. The first phase will includeย nine trails, anchored by three primary lines: A beginner-friendlyย green, an intermediateย blue, and aย challenging black. Riders will be able to link trails together on the way down, creating a “choose your own adventure” feel with flow and technical options woven throughout.ย In addition to thoughtful routing, riders can expectย dynamic featuresย including:ย
-Road gapsย
-Rock spinesย
-Wooden dropsย
-Canonย
These elements are being built with intentionโto challenge more experienced riders while maintaining accessibility and progression for newer ones.
“Weโre putting a lot of thought into progression and variety. We want someone to come here and grow their skills over time, not just hit the same line every visit.” ย
Built for Year-Round Adventure
Thanks to the resortโs existing lift infrastructure, the bike park will beย lift-accessed, a rarity in North Carolina and a major draw for mountain bikers in the region. Riders wonโt have to spend their energy pedaling upโtheyโll be able to maximize their time descending.ย And for those wondering how this will impact Hatley Pointeโs ski experience – The team is ahead of it.ย
“Weโve made it a priority to plan the trail layout in a way that minimizes crossover with ski terrain, helping both experiences thrive throughout the year.”
Looking Ahead
The park is currently in development, with anย opening planned for Spring, 2026. In the meantime, we are gearing up for another winter season, continuing to refine theย lodge, lift operations, and guest experiences across the board. Stay tuned for more updates as the build continues and follow along as Hatley Pointe becomes a new hub for adventure in the Southeast.ย

I was told you charge Ski Patrollers for a lift pass on their days off if they want to ski. Is that true?
