Beartooth Basin Ski Area in Wyoming is looking ready to open tomorrow, May 28, for summer skiing and snowboarding.
A video shared to the Beartooth Basin Instagram story shows the mountain’s two poma surface lifts spinning. Below the lifts, the snow looks like it’s been skied and the terrain looks like it’s been mitigated with the cornice blown.
Located along Beartooth Highway near Cody, Wyoming, Beartooth Basin is limited to summer operations only. Beartooth Highway is only plowed and open during the summer, so accessing the mountain in the winter is simply not possible.
Beartooth Basin provides 600 acres of summer skiing and snowboarding varying in pitch from 15 to 50 degrees. The mountain’s 1,000 vertical feet of terrain are serviced by two poma surface lifts that climb to a highest point of 10,900 feet. Advanced intermediate/expert skiing or snowboarding skills are required at the ski area.
