Every year when the spring rolls in, skiers across the East head to Mt. Washington for one of the biggest end-of-season traditions in the sport. Tuckerman Ravine is a party when the conditions are right, with both skiers and snowboarders testing their skills on the iconic face. Gnarly wipeouts often fill the highlight reels, but epic sends come around every once in a while. This wild double is one of those sends.
Mount Washington isn’t a friendly place, either. Every year, 25 people wind up needing some sort of assistance from rescue crews, whether they’re skiers, climbers, or hikers. Plus fatalities aren’t unheard of in Tuckerman. One occurred in March of 2024, and plenty others have occurred over the years.
So while this send is pretty epic, it’s important that skiers and snowboarders ski far within their comfort level in Tuckerman Ravine, understanding that the area is in the backcountry. The Mount Washington Volunteer Ski Patrol and other search and rescue groups do provide assistance in the ravine, but a rescue or recovery is still not as simple as skiing an injured party down to the ski patrol lodge.
That doesn’t mean we’re bashing on this guy. The run is absolutely unbelievable. Of course he clearly knew what he was doing and sent the double with an understanding of how to hit it and how to land it.
