The final days of ski resort operations are often festive affairs with locals and tourists joining in the push to have maximum fun before the season end and slopes close down for summer.
With sun soaked skiers and snowboarders looking to one up each other in their last hurrah, sometimes people go beyond their limits and end up paying the price. Such was the case for this Alta skier who was egged on by a crowd of rowdy bystanders before making the unadvisable choice to drop into a crowded mogul field. The skier immediately lost control and went barreling through traffic before colliding with a skier who was standing on the side of the run leaving one spectator asking the question “what was he thinking?”
In the best case scenario if this skier had landed his initial air, he still would have been faced with high speed run out through a mogul field crowded with skiers which is accident waiting to happen. As the ski season dwindles and similar chaotic scenes play out on slopes across the country we remind folks to only ski within your skills and not to get carried away with spring skiing antics at the price of other peoples safety.
