As the weather warms up and ski resorts start to celebrate the end of their seasons, what could easily considered the greatest traditions in skiing and snowboarding will fill your feed more and more. Pond skimming is the classic competition of skiing or snowboarding over a temporary pool of water while hoping you don’t fall into the frigid depths.
Simply making it across the frigid water can be its own challenge, but entertaining the crowd and putting on enough of a show to actually win is an entirely different game. Sure, you could just straight-line across, but the audience wants to see something wild and this fat-biker at Alyeska Resort pulled off just that.
He didn’t make it across but he did entertain with a brutal scorpion into the pool. This doens’t prove that fat-bikes can’t pond skim though. If he had managed to keep his front tire up, it seems like there’s a good chance the bike could have made it across. Let’s hope someday we’ll see someone succeed with one of these bikes.
