The video below is the most-watched clip in the long and historic career of Warren Miller.

It shows brothers Dan and John Egan skiing a backcountry line near Grand Targhee Resort, Wyoming for Warren Miller’s 1990 film, ‘Extreme Winter’.

Watch as Dan releases the cornice, and John is forced to make a mid-air maneuver to survive:

This clip is over 30-years-old, and it’s still blows my mind every single time that I watch it. If only GoPros were around back then!

I just can’t make sense of how John Egan didn’t plunge to his death as soon as that cornice began falling.

This is why I typically stay in-bounds. I get too anxious about unpredictable things happening. That’s probably lame to most of you, but I like living.
