Pragelato, Italy — Italy is preparing to host the Winter Olympics again next year, which will be the first time hosting in approximately two decades. Back in 2006, Torino, Italy, hosted the Winter Olympics. The ski jumps that one hosted memorable events now are laying to waste.

In October 2023, YouTuber Urbandoned shared a video of him and his buddies exploring an abandoned Olympic ski-jumping site in Pragelato. Some parts of the venue are better maintained than others, as the chairlift that people used to reach the jumps has been lost to nature. Much of the branding from Torino 2006 remains, giving it the feel of a spooky museum. Deconstructing the site has been considered, but it remains standing for now.

If you’re wondering what the venue was like during its glory days, a video broadcast from FIS Ski Jumping shows the Men’s Large Hill ski jumping event competition at Pragelato during the 2004-05 season.
