A video has emerged of the victim of the Attitash Mountain Resort chairlift detachment moments after he crashed twenty feet to the ground. A guest riding the Flying Bear Express high-speed quad chairlift had his phone out as he passed over the victim spalyed out on the snow next to the fallen chairlift just moments after the accident. The man on the ground was asked if he was okay and he responded:
“My backs hurting….it f*cking fell off”
Reports are the victim remained conscious the entire time and was transported to the hospital with back injuries, which is substantiated by this below video. He has since been released:
A spokesperson for Vail Resorts, which operates Attitash Mountain Resort, issued this statement about the accident:
“Attitash Mountain can confirm an incident occurred on its Flying Bear chairlift today, February 2, 2025. The safety of our guests is our top priority, and the resort is investigating the incident.”
The accident is currently under investigation by the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office and the New Hampshire Passenger Tramway Safety Board. The Fire Marhsal’s Office has stated that the probable cause was a mechanical failure.
