Spain’s Civil Guard reports a ski lift collapsed at Astún Ski Resort in the Pyrenees near Spain’s border with France injuring 30 guests, no fatalities have been reported.
Ten people were transported to the hospital, two with “maximum priority” and another two requiring “urgent attention.” Around 80 people remained trapped on the chairlift and were evacuated with the assistance of several helicopters. The evacuation took a total of 2.5 hours.
The cause of the cable failure is unknown. This is a developing story and we will be sure to update when more information becomes available.
