Ever watched a skijoring competition at thought, “I want to give that a shot”? Well then the town of Estes Park, Colorado, is hosting an event that might just be perfect for you. Running between January 24 and 26, 2025, the Estes Park Events Complex will host a skijoring competition, in addition to the Mountain Shop Expo, Estes Park Education Foundation’s Fun Zone and a bunch of local food trucks.
Skijoring, in case you’re in the dark, is a competition that forces skiers to navigate a difficult course with gates, jumps, obstacles, and more, all while being towed behind a by a horse and rider team. It’s quite an incredible spectacle, and falls right in with the energy of the Colorado mountain town.
The competition begins on Friday, January 24, with a 4pm-6pm Competitor check in at American Legion Post 119, followed by a bib ceremony at 6pm and live music at 6:30pm. On Saturday, January 25, the competition fully kicks off between 11:30am and 3:30pm, then it continues between the same times on Sunday, January 26.

Don’t be deterred if you’ve never done it before, either. The competition will have a novice category, you’ll just need to find a rider to register with (or skier, if you’re a rider).
