St. Anton, Austria Yesterday, Lauren Macuga had the run of her life.

This past weekend, Lauren Macuga won her first-ever World Cup race. The Park City resident finished first at the St. Anton Super-G race. She became the first American to win the St. Anton Super-G event and the sixth American woman to win a Super-G World Cup.

The victory follows a string of solid performances by Lauren. Some of her recent impressive results include 9th place in the St. Anton Downhill, 7th in the St. Moritz Super-G, and 4th at Beaver Creek (aka Birds of Prey) Downhill.

Lauren comes from a very winter sports-oriented family, as her siblings (Alli, Sam, and Daniel) compete in different skiing disciplines. According to The Athletic, the Macuga family aims to have Alli, Sam, and Lauren compete in the 2026 Olympics. Lauren started competing a lot later than the usual athlete. Her first competitive downhill race was at Sugarloaf when she was 16.

Lindsey Vonn also had another excellent performance, finishing in fourth. After Macuga’s victory, Vonn was ecstatic for her teammate and took some Polaroid pictures to celebrate the monumental victory.
