Seattle is a pretty notorious ocean side city, known for its seafood and sea-related industries. But Elliot Bay, part of Puget Sound, wasn’t always connected to the ocean. Instead the bay was once a fresh water lake.
So how did Elliot Bay wind up connected to the ocean, making Seattle the oceanside area it is today? Cascade PBS and Nick on the Rocks took a look at the region’s long and large history.
