Thanksgiving tends to mean a big Turkey Dinner, time with family, and a few days away from work or school. For us, time away from work or school tends to just bring skiing into our mind. And while we don’t advocate for abandoning your family to go skiing on Thanksgiving Day, we wouldn’t judge you if you did.
So if you are weighing the benefits of skiing versus the benefits of celebrating Thanksgiving, make sure to take the current snow conditions into account. Your local resort is always a great place to ski or snowboard, but booking a last minute trip to one of these six North American resorts with a snow depth over four feet might be even better.
Keep in mind, there’s some weather brewing across North America. So while this list is current based on each ski area’s snow reports, we might see more areas reach over four feet in the next few days. Without further ado, here are six open North American ski areas with a snow depth above four feet:
Brundage Mountain Resort, Idaho: 29″ at the base, 47″ at the summit, 53″ at Lakeview.
Mammoth Mountain, California: 43-48″ base depth range, more snow in the forecast (10-14 inches possible on Monday).
Mt. Baker, Washington: 60″ snow base at Heather Meadows Base Area, 80″ snow base at Panorama Dome.
Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon: 51″ depth at the base, 54″ depth at the mountain midpoint.
Timberline Lodge, Oregon: 58″ depth at the lodge at 6,000 feet.
Whistler Blackcomb, Canada: 53″ base depth.
