Big new out of Big Sky where they are making major headway on the all new Madison 8 Chairlift. Both upper and lower terminals are quickly coming together with machinery and enclosures in place and all 25 towers have been installed with the help of a Chinook helicopter.

Earlier this month a cross-arm assembly was damaged during installation but the team at Big Sky and folks at Doppelmayr immediately got to work on a solution and they remain on track for a December opening.

When complete the Madison 8 will be the world’s longest 8-seat chairlift and will nearly nearly double the uphill capacity and reduce ride time of the Six Shooter Chairlift it is replacing by 30% (12 minutes down to 8-minutes ride).

“Big Sky Resort is at the forefront of transforming the North American ski experience by adding the most advanced and comfortable lift system to our mountain. This lift replacement supports our long-standing reputation for having some of the shortest lift lines in the Rockies.” –Troy Nedved, Big Sky GM

Big Sky opening day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27th and the Madison 8 is set to start spinning in December.
